Slow Cooking Time Guide

Some dishes need to be cooked on a specific setting for the required cooking time. For example, a piece of stewing beef should usually be started on high for the first hour and then on low for the remaining time (if you have the “auto” setting on your slow cooker, this is done for you).

However, some recipes can be adapted if you are short on time (or if you fancy cooking your dish for even longer!)

Here is a quick table to help you convert cooking times between the 3 usual settings.

Low Med High
6-8 Hrs 4-6 Hrs 3-4 Hrs
8-10 Hrs 6-8 Hrs 5-6 Hrs
10-12 Hrs 8-10 Hrs 7-8 Hrs

Remember, if you reduce the cooking time, you’ll also need to reduce the amount of liquid you add to your dish
